Aarohi
“Uth ja beta aur Kitna soyege” mum’s piercing through my half-sleep…
Me? on the other side, in my delusion with tears in the corner of my eyes … roj sapna dakte hu aur moment ata hi hnn aur mummy utha dete hnn… no luck for dreamers like me “ uth ti hu mummy” .. my mother was always the alarm clock I never asked for…
Uthta hi sabse pehla kam obviously to check the phone… There were 10 missed calls from my colleagues … I ran to my washroom, and got ready in a basic and formal outfit ….
“Breakfast to Karla!” Mum yelled behind me… but I am already late..
I grabbed the car keys and drove off, soft music playing in the background, trying to shake off the weight in my chest.
At Office
I went straight to my cabin. There was not much time left for my meeting with the “Oberoi group” to finalize the jewelry for the next event. I pulled the drawer for some important documents-
That’s when my eyes fell onto something, and my hand got frozen
A photo slipped out -one I’d hidden for so long but never forgotten
It was labeled “First Love” in faded ink…Incomplete. Torn at the edge.
Just like the story behind it.”
“mat karo mera sath aise … mat karo” “me Nhi rah paunga,” he had said…
“Nhi reh skte mee... mar dala hn tuna muja”.
His voice echoed in my mind like a haunting melody.
That’s when I heard a soft knock on the door. “The guests have arrived, ma'am”, said Riya, my assistant, flashing a polite smile, and brought me back from my mind.
The past?
never really leaves.
Thinking of him doesn’t make me smile. It scars me.
That night still lingers in my mind like an unfinished chapter.
The meeting began shortly after. The Oberoi Group arrived right on time, and their director, Mr. Vivaan Oberoi, was... a bit too charming for a professional setting.
He wasn’t just known for his business empire, but also for being one of the city’s most eligible bachelors—a fact that every magazine seemed to mention.
We started to exchange the design … Thankfully, both were on the same page, and with a few changes, it will be all ready… the meeting went well, and wrapped up smoothly within an hour.
As I packed my files, Mr. Oberoi turned to me with a smile.
“If you’re free, Mrs. Aarohi, how about a coffee?” Mr. Oberoi, the CEO of OBEROI Group, asked me.
“We can discuss the rest of the event there, and if any changes are needed, we can do so,” he added
I turned to Riya
“Riya, koi aur meeting bachi hn aaj ke liye?”
She glanced at her tablet
“Nahi ma’am aaj ke liye sab clear hai,” she said politely
I let out a small sigh of relief, “Great…”
Picking up my bag, I said softly to myself,
“Toh Chalo phir coffee bhi ho Jaaye.”
AND JUST LIKE THAT, I WALKED OUT WITH MR. OBEROI
